Elevator Pitch No. 1

My opportunity for this assignment was college students that often find themselves in need of help for simple tasks. These tasks often take a short amount of time and consist of moving furniture, getting a painting put on the wall, or even painting a wall. Without another solution, students are often forced to wait until their friends are available to get simple stuff done.

My solution to this opportunity is a phone app called OddJob. OddJob functions a smaller scale version of Craigslist that allows college students to post their tasks as a job posting on the app. OddJob then sends notifications to all the users in the area with the app installed as an opportunity for them to help another student out and make a small amount of money while doing so.

Below you can find my elevator pitch:

Reflection: This was the first time that I had really sat down and done an elevator pitch. In the future I could definitely improve by looking into the camera more, adding some concrete facts to my pitch, and maybe explaining the product a little more. I would very much appreciate it if readers could leave comments below with feedback on what they think I could do better.

Thanks!

  2. Sebastian,
I really like your idea! I could definitely see myself using this app because I agree with you in saying that there's always little things I need help with. The reason your pitch is great is that it I think you could definitely be successful at any place or with anyone not just college students. I also liked your video because you were well dressed and presented the idea in an engaging way! Our ideas were very similar because they discussed creating an app to help market or make or idea more accessible to the public, and also targeted college students. Our pitches also were similar as we challenged our audience that their lives will be better with our service/product. But that is the one difference between ours is that I'm selling more of a good while you're selling a service even though were both using apps.

  3. Hi Sebastian,
The elevator pitch you have interesting, the product that you are introducing is very useful to many people. I have made an app for an project last year, the process was difficult, but the accomplishment associated with the progress is incredible. Here is the link to my elevator pitch, http://jzent3003.blogspot.com/2016/02/elevator-pitch-no-1.html. Check it out if you have time.

  4. Hi Sebastian! Thanks for sharing your elevator pitch. First off, I liked how your pitch was short, sweet, and to the point. You had a conversational tone, and even though you started off looking a bit uncomfortable, towards the end it seemed like you found your rhythm and took control of the pitch, so good job there. I would say in your next pitch, try even to drop your hands by your side- it will help you appear more confident and in control. I liked your idea a lot, even though there are several apps that exist, if you could specialize this to a college market, I could see where you could have some serious success. Good luck, and thanks again!

  5. Hey Sebastian! I also proposed an app to help students. I really like your idea because its a great way for students to help each other out through something they are always attached to, their smart phones. I proposed an app for ride sharing on scooters, to help students scheduling with transportation and parking, you can see it here: http://katieshirley.blogspot.com/2016/02/elevator-pitch-no-1.html. Great post!
